Admission Information

Admission to the MBA Program is at the discretion of the College of Business Administration's Committee on Graduate Admissions and the Dean of the Graduate School. Applicants are normally admitted if they have:

  • a baccalaureate degree from an accredited university or equivalent,

  • a minimum undergraduate grade point average of 2.75,

  • a score of 450 or above on the GMAT

In addition, applicants must have maintained at least a 3.0 GPA (4.0 system) for all graduate work previously taken. Applicants whose native language is not English must achieve a minimum score of 550 (written test) or 213 (computer test) on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), and a minimum score of 50 (written test) or 16 (computer test) on Section 1 of the TOEFL. The TOEFL requirement may be waived if the applicant has earned a degree in an English-speaking institution. Students scoring below 650 on the TOEFL will be required to take an English Second Language (ESL) evaluation to determine if English courses are required.

Application Information and Requirements

Applications

Applications must be submitted to the University of New Orleans by the applicable deadline. Application forms may be completed online or printed at the UNO Admissions Department Web Site

The GMAT

The required GMAT is administered as a computer-adaptive test (CAT) throughout North America and at many international sites. To schedule your GMAT test in the USA and Canada, please call 1-800-462-8669. A list of International Regional Registration Centers (RRC) may be obtained by visiting the Web site at www.gmat.org for more information. The Official Guide for GMAT Review, the PowerPrep Software, and the official GMAT Practice Test may be obtained in the USA and Canada by calling 1-800-982-6740 or 1-609-771-7243, or from the GMAT Web Site.

The TOEFL

The required TOEFL is usually administered in countries other than the USA; however, if you need to take the TOEFL in the USA, please contact Testing Services in the College of Business Administration or call 609-771-7100 in the USA or Canada areas.

Graduate Assistantships

Graduate Assistantships are available in all areas in which degrees are offered, but they are limited and competitive. Most Assistantships do not cover the complete cost of attending the University of New Orleans and supplementary funds are necessary. Often Assistantships are not available until after the first semester of study. Applications should be made directly to the MBA Program, the College of Business Administration, prior to March 15 for the following Fall semester or at least three months prior to the semester for which you are applying for. Graduate Assistants must be enrolled as full-time Graduate Students and must be enrolled in a graduate program in order to obtain a Graduate Assistantship.

Student Financial Aid

U.S. Department of Education Student Financial Aid information can be obtained online, including financial aid forms. (http://www.ed.gov/finaid.html)
