Background:

Joined UNO faculty in 1991. Areas of specialization are Accounting Information Systems, which he teaches at both the Graduate and Undergraduate levels, and Oil and Gas Accounting. Prior to obtaining his Ph.D., Dr. Young worked for eleven years, with experience in public accounting – Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. (now KPMG Peat Marwick LLP) – and industry – Mobil Oil Corp.; Gulf Oil, Inc.; and Chevron USA, Inc. During 1999, Dr. Young worked as an intern with the Computer Risk Management Group of Arthur Andersen, LLP to insure that he was keeping abreast of the current methods being used in public accounting. Publications have appeared in numerous journals, including The Journal of Information Systems, Advances in Accounting Information Systems, Jurimetrics: Journal of Law, Science and Technology, International Journal of Intelligent Systems in Accounting, Finance, and Management, Oil & Gas Tax Quarterly, and Controllers Quarterly. Dr. Young has presented papers at the American Accounting Association annual meeting, the Southwest Federation of Administrative Disciplines annual meeting, and the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences annual meeting. At the 2004 American Accounting Association Annual Meeting, the Information Systems Section honored Dr. Young with the Section’s 2004 Outstanding Service Award.
