Master of Science in Accounting
This program further prepares students for careers in public, industrial, and not-for-profit accounting through advanced study in financial and managerial accounting, auditing, taxation, and accounting systems. It also is a foundation for entrance into doctoral programs and other professional studies.

Master of Science in Taxation
This program provides graduate study concentrated in areas such as partnership, corporation, and shareholder taxation, the tax problems of employee retirement plans, and tax research. It also is a foundation for entrance into doctoral programs and other professional studies.

Concentrations
Concentrations in specialized fields of study can be obtained under the non-tax Master of Science option. Concentrations are in auditing and systems. Each concentration consists of 3 or 4 specific courses. These courses fill the required accounting or non-accounting electives in the Masters programs; thus, no additional hours of course work are required to obtain a concentration.

Internal Auditing Program

Pre-CPA
The Pre-CPA program is designed to enable students who do not wish to pursue a graduate degree to meet the requirements of the Louisiana State Board of CPAs to sit for the CPA examination.

Foundation Courses

The graduate programs build on the students' technical competence in undergraduate accounting and business courses. To provide a background for successful study at the graduate level, a series of preparatory courses or their equivalents must be completed before enrolling in courses for graduate credit.

All or part of the preparatory course requirements may be fulfilled by courses taken at other universities. Students with undergraduate degrees in accounting usually have satisfied all, or most, of the preparatory course requirements. The preparatory courses consist of the following: Accounting 2100, 3120, 3121, 3122, 3123, 3131, 3141, 3152, 3161; Business Administration 3010; Economics 1203, 1204; Finance 3300; Management 3401, 3402; Marketing 3501; Quantitative Methods 2785. (Business Administration 4400 may be substituted for Business Administration 3010. Economics 4400 may be substituted for Economics 1203 and 1204. Finance 4400 may be substituted for Finance 3300. Management 4400 may be substituted for Management 3401 and 3402. Marketing 4400 may be substituted for Marketing 3501. Quantitative Methods 4400 may be substituted for Quantitative Methods 2785.) A grade of "C" or better is required in all preparatory courses. Accounting 3123 and 3141 are not required in the Taxation Option.
